Nearly half a million people protested against 45th President of United States of America Donald J. Trump on Saturday.
An unpopular President sits in the Oval Office of the White House and there’s nothing they can do to stop such chaos that has been created by his Presidency.
The Entertainment Industry couldn’t be more divided on what or who they stand for. Freida Pinto has been in the U.S. for the last Eight years While UNICEF Global Embassador and Actress Priyanka Chopra has been there for the last couple of years.
As per Freida Pinto’s recent post, her loyalties rest with Obama’s and her hero, the FLOTUS Michelle Obama. She said in her post,
“I first came to America in 2008, the same year Barack Obama became the President of this country. Over eight years, I found my authentic voice as an activist and advocate for human rights, while I built my career from scratch”
I am so grateful to have had 8 years in the United States of America with President Obama and my hero the First Lady Michelle Obama. I first came to America with my first film Slumdog Millionaire in 2008, the same year Barack Obama became the President of this country. Economically it wasn’t the happiest times in the world but there was hope and positivity like no other. A willingness to work through the chaos and a sense of comfort that finally there will be someone in power who will Listen to its People. Over those 8 years I found my authentic voice as an activist and advocate for Human Rights while I built my career from scratch in the world of cinema that I so love. Happiness and hope always intact. So today I don’t want to get despondent, because it’s really hard to not get so. But I want to reign in all that positivity and learnings that I’ve had from watching the Obamas gracefully lead their people and from personally gaining some of those lessons from Michelle Obama herself. There’s much to do and there’s a lot of people counting on our collective voices to root for them and have empathy towards them. My voice is powerful as is yours..So let’s use it to do something good, to be compassionate and to stand up against injustices even when they don’t affect us directly. This reminds me of my favorite quote by HH Dalai Lama- “Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions” Love always Freida (Photo Credit : Amanda Lucidon)
Priyanka Chopra, however, tweeted an apology for her inability to be part of the march. Her post reads,
“So proud of all my sisters and the men that are at the #WomensMarch. I’m so upset I couldn’t go,”
Priyanka couldn’t go because of her hectic shooting schedule for Quantico. She recently posted this picture of her sleeping in the plane with captions,
“Next stop #NYC here we go..”
She’s currently busy shooting for her show Quantico which aired tonight at 10/9c. She just posted this video about an hour ago.
You decide! Is Priyanka Chopra Being Cautious on U.S. Women’s March? What do you think?
