If you are also among those who are still in confusion on why Ben Affleck stepped down as the director for The Batman then Kevin Smith has got some answers for you and they are seriously believable.
Kevin Smith took to his YouTube channel to talk about the reason Affleck turned down the director’s job after he was questioned by fans for directing the movie himself. He along with Marc Bernardin discussed the matter in their podcast.
Everybody wants that to be the greatest Batman movie ever made, and you know, in many cases, maybe the greatest Batman movie ever made has been made, called The Dark Knight, it’s a pretty wonderful film. If that is your bar for a Batman standalone, Chris Nolan couldn’t even measure up to himself with The Dark Knight Rises….. so maybe he’s the kind of guy who is like why bother. Why am I going to step up to the plate, no matter what I do people are going to b***. If it ain’t F**c** The Dark Knight, I am F***!
Clearly, his reason for the departure is believable and he makes a lot of sense here because the level of The Dark Knight was too high and even Christopher Nolan was unable to even match the level with the successor, The Dark Knight Rises.
It’s true that great things happen rarely because if they happen too often, then how can they be great.
Surely, Ben Affleck is a great actor-director but maybe he knows that somewhere down the line, he wouldn’t be able to match the level of The Dark Knight and even no one else can.
So he thought it to be better to step out of it than to be blamed afterward for not being able to deliver the best Batman movie ever.
The quest for the Director’s chair is still running and running tight and we expect a name very soon as the production has to start this year.
