London Based Charity’s Iraq Country Director, Maurizio Crivallero has officially released a statement regarding the children’s safety in Iraq. Here’s what he said:
“Iraqi forces and their allies, including the US and UK, must do everything in their power to protect children and their families from harm, and avoid civilian buildings like schools and hospitals as they push deeper into the city,”
Some 3,50,000 children’s are trapped in West Mosul, Save the Children warned on Sunday as Iraqi Forces launched an offensive on Jihadists in the city.
Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced the start of the offensive, asking Iraqi forces to “respect human rights” during the battle and to take care of those displaced by the fighting.
Iraqi planes dropped millions of leaflets on western Mosul warning residents that the battle to dislodge Islamic State was imminent, said Iraqi Defence Minister on Saturday.
