Independence Day Resurgence has just been released and the planning for Independence Day 3 already begin. Roland Emmerich recently came forward to talk about the sequel to the mega sci-fi action movie.

Independence Day Resurgence was made with a 20 years gap and the absence of Will Smith would definitely affect its business. But still, the critics has suggested a blockbuster collection of it.

The filmmakers don’t want to take a risk with upcoming Independence Day movies and maybe they’ll find a way to bring Will Smith back in Independence Day 3 or Independence Day 4 (maybe).

Independence Day 3

Roland Emmerich had an interview with Empire where he discussed about the sequels of Independence Day. He said –

The next one will be an intergalactic journey. It’ll be set maybe a year or two later, not 20 years. I want to maintain this group of people, especially the young characters and Jeff and Brent will take part in it. It’ll be fun to keep the group together.

The intergalactic visualization would be an improvisation and a better tactic for future possibilities and projects. The first night premiere earned the producers around $5 Million and it is expected to open at around $40 Million to $70 Million.
