World’s deepest lake is Lake Baikal which is in Southern Siberia and recently this place bagged our attention for hosting an endurance Ice skating and cycling competition over the frozen Lake.
From strong winds to extreme cold those 40 Russians and 30 Dutch nationals participants faced a lot. Only two-thrid of the participants were able to make it to the finish line due to extreme weather condition.
Here’ is CGTN Official posted a short video with captions, reads:
“Freezing endurance race kicks off on Sunday with over 70 people competing in ice skating and cycling contest on frozen Lake Baikal”
The Ice Skating race won by Ivan Timofeyev and the Cycling race was won by Aleksander Ulitinov.
The organisers also planned a third race category, skiing race but it had to be cancelled because of lack of participants.
