It’s official. Game of Thrones Season 8 Episodes count is now officially confirmed by the showrunners, D.B. Weiss and David Benioff.
In a recent group interview with SXSW, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss discussed a lot with the fans about their experience from the show. In the whole bunch of questions, the showrunner duo confirmed the episode count of the final season.
It’s only going to be six episodes for the final season.
HBO hasn’t yet confirmed Game of Thrones Season 8 Episodes count being restricted to six episodes with seven episodes from the upcoming Season 7 airing on 16th July.
It seems wiser for the creators to keep it to 73 hours of showtime as they originally thought of a 70-hour long TV show. Although, it isn’t clear whether the final 13 episodes would be of the original 1-hour runtime as they might be more to keep up with the perfect story.
All the four were very disciplined and didn’t reveal any spoiler for the upcoming season but joked around for who must kill Sansa Stark.
Earlier, it was confirmed by Sophie Turner (unintentionally) that she would be there in the final season too. The seventh season is also supposed to be action-packed as the final conclusion would be made in the final 13 episodes.
They also discussed the possible return of the character who died during the earlier seasons and named Catelyn Stark and Joffrey Baratheon played by Michelle Fairley and Jack Gleeson respectively.
They also labeled the pilot (first episode of the first season) as one of the worst they ever had shot and they finally had to do a reshoot as the shaving sequence was focused on too much without any resemblance of it with the show.
