At last, Oscar winner Director and actor Ben Affleck has finally decided to step down as director of The Batman Movie but remain on as a producer and star of the movie.
Earlier today, sources have confirmed that Ben is still on board to play the Batman but he’s no longer the director of the film.
However, this decision was based on making the best film possible for fans, so Ben Affleck and Warner Bros came to this decision together.
Here’s how Ben Affleck statement said about his decision to not direct the Batman Movie.
“There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions. Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”
Affleck was announced as director by Warner Bros CEO Kevin Tsujihara last April. Affleck has starred in and directed movies such as “The Town” and “Argo” with the latter going on to win the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2013.
However, Ben’s latest movie “Live By Night” disappointed at the box offices with $19 Million collection worldwide.
Warner Bros will now search for a new director to direct The Batman Movie and according to sources, Matt Reeves is among one of them.
